Want to keep the taskbar hidden

Hello, can anyone please tell me if and how I can keep the taskbar locked out of sight, i.e. so that it doesn't pop up when I'm at the bottom of the screen. (I'd like this to be reversible.) I use 8.1, with both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, if this is relevant.

I don't think it's possible, windows, at least desktop part, would be practically unusable.

Windows 8 has the feature already built in. The thing is that you will always raise it, when you get within the taskbar zone.

There's just too much on taskbar to completely ignore it, I have it on autohide ever since W95. In W7 you could make it almost invisible using translucency, there are some utilities to do it similar on 8.1 because it does not have "Aero".

That's auto hide, he already knows about it.

Enhance Windows Taskbar Auto-Hide Functionality Using Taskbar Activate - AskVG

(Basically you would raise the activation time in milliseconds so high as to virtually disable the Taskbar)

Read all information, use with caution and always create a Restore Point before trying out unfamiliar software!

Edit: big drawback is: it leaves a blank space, your window doesn't go 'full screen'.

lol, I was thinking of suggesting to move it to the side but wasn't sure how that would go over. I thought it might come across as being a smart alike reply. :thumb:

You could put the taskbar somewhere else( left right top ), then make the Icons smaller by checking "use small taskbar buttons", and then auto hide. Not the fix your looking for a good trade.

I use Taskbar Activate & it allows full screen.

If it sticks I just press the Windows key to pop up the Taskbar.
