My PC won't start after 8.1 upgrade. Very frustrating.

I have Classic Shell on my computer that worked fine before the upgrade. I could not stand the 8.0 OS screen, and classic shell was great while it worked. So one day I reset my computer after it was hanging after I shut down and then the next time I logged in, I was told that 8.1 was ready to install. So I let it do it's thing. Then after it was done and the log in screen came up, I entered my password and was sent to an error pop up over a blank screen that said something like Classic Shell was corrupt and couldn't start. So after clicking the pop up to check online for help with it, I got nowhere. I tried the following to get in to the bios so that I could load my 8.0 OS disc to repair:

- reset, delete
- reset, F2
- reset F8

Each of these options caused the screen to freeze blank. I have an SSD drive for the OS.

I tried shift, while clicking reset on the screen and got to the troubleshooting option. I clicked troubleshoot and after reset, I got another blank screen. Then I tried ctrl, alt, del after logging in and was able to work around to get to windows explorer and get in. I went to system config, checked the option to get to safe mode and unchecked classic shell. After reset I got a blank screen. Now I can't even get to the log in screen.

Any ideas please? I am planning to re-install windows if I can't get in but I need the info on password protected ssd drive.

when you first power on the PC keep tapping the F2 or DEL or F12 key to get into bios setting

not sure how you mean resetF2

I can't get in but I need the info on password protected ssd drive.
That can be an issue if you can not boot from windows media
although you should be able to get into bios setting - weather you can change can be another issue

I tried tapping those keys repeatedly many times and kept getting a blank screen. I'll try again.

I just bought another SSD drive (I needed one anyway). I am planning to just install the original 8.0 OS on it and then upgrade to 8.1, and then use it as a master drive with the corrupt OS drive as a slave. Can't I just plug the old drive in and then enter the password to get my files?

If you mean log-in password, then you could hook up corrupt drive as slave and fetch your files assuming there are no other issues with that SSD.
