OK,
I Promise this will be my final and last post on your thread as per your request and tone. So
worry no more about me telling you an
alternative solution/workaround since no other works for you buddy. (you even said it yourself "nothing works and you supposedly tried it all" - in quote below)
However you are in good hands as the rest of the posters here are very capable and knowledgeable of helping you.
-------------------------------
- You don't need to read through your entire 1st post but notice the
Bolded highlighted parts of what You say...
-------------------------------
I have a new Asus, Windows 8.1 laptop that's barely a month old,..., no matter how long I wait (and I waited).Beforehand, the laptop would shutdown after a while, but...
I've researched so much about this, and it seems like it's a common problem, yet all these "solutions" aren't solving anything.
Yes. I've tried... like blocking media streaming, homegroup stuff, and more. None of which has worked. This is getting really annoying...
right, continuing on.. ok..
You are misunderstanding me. At first, the problem was that when I put my laptop to sleep or hibernate, or close the lid ... After a while, the laptop would shut down ....
...a "solution" that disabled that shut down "feature", so know the laptop would still be on with a black screens, fans and lights and all still on, no matter how long I leave the laptop on
.
So We are all now left with information that "after awhile it would shut down"... but the next part says "no matter how long i leave the laptop on.."
-are you seeing where i am going with this??
My problem is NOT the fact I use those features, it's the fact those features are not working properly. That is what is wrong.
-ok I'm not telling you whether or not you can use those features,
I am only telling you that sleep/hibernate/stanby have always had problems since the beginning - even security issues..
-Throughout history when you "awake" your computer from these modes, there are so many factors involving electricty/capacitors and resuming from a low-power state has and always has caused memory issues and more - Microsoft, due to the fact of so much hardware out there just can't get it together.. So I'm just telling you, If you need proof, I can post millions of articles which i'm sure you already "researched".. No need to think I'm forcing down your throat that you can't use it.. but if you do use it , there will probably be issues resuming programs.. and/or even things like a network card resuming from sleep usually has issues.. bluetooth has issues resuming from sleep, some hard disks have issues resuming from a low-power mode.. etc.. or in your case it can't even hibernate/sleep..
-this next one was hilarious.. this actually was a miscommunication in the most perfect sense.
So you're telling me that I am liar, and that I am lying about an annoying problem on my computer so I can achieve...what? I highly doubt you even tried to look up what my problem is, so even though I came here for help, I'll help you instead:
-I phrased my sentence incorrectly and worded in the wrong order - which started your fire to burn.. What I should have said is this :
"I have always read about problems when using sleep or hibernate from all around the internet.."
-that is actually all i was trying to say but you start yelling and tell me I call you a liar.. haha.
I can see how you thought that though so this one is my fault I admit due to the way I worded it. I shouldn't have put in parenthesis and just left them out. My quote would have then sounded like this :
"I've read nothing but countless problems and incompatibilities when computer wake from sleep and hibernate!"
instead of :
I've read nothing (like you) but countless problems and incompatibilities when computer wake from sleep and hibernate!
And if you didn't laugh enough, here is the final part.
2) You are essentially telling me that getting a new laptop is the solution to power features not working correctly. That is both not cost effective and extremly stupid.
Ok, actually if you now re-read my postings, you will see all I do is mention as a Workaround or Solution
to get a SSD!
Nowhere do I say buy another complete computer!?? haha.
I only mention about a SSD which by the way costs $116. You can go crucial or Kingston and get even cheaper!..
Shutting down takes too long, and leaving it on with the lid closed inside my bag is going to fry the thing.
I can't believe I even have to explain why I use sleep and hibernate.
I can't believe your computer takes so long to shutdown? what is it doing? I have zillions of programs and my laptop shutsdown very quickly. again I am willing to bet you don't have a SSD!
Have you even begun to think about how your
pagefile and how much ram you have could be affecting your sleep/hibernate taking so long to shutdown?
Ok, Goodluck fixing an issue that has caused issues for computers since they came out with the concept of sleep/hibernate.
I actually do hope you get it fixed.. change your pagefile and use an ssd is all I am going to throw out there..
