I've got a nagging problem and I haven't found any solutions. There is a workaround my problem, but this involves changing the registry. I know this is risky, so what should I do to protect my PC?
It is difficult to be specific without knowing the details.
Creating a restore point before making the change would be a good idea. Making an image backup of the OS would be even better.
A couple of things to keep in mind about using regedit:
1. Unlike a text editor there is no save function. All changes are immediate. Of course many changes do not take effect until a reboot or in some cases a logoff and login.
2. There is no undo facility. So be sure the changes are correct.
