Solved file explorer missing after moving to right side of screen

I am new to windows 8. I was recently looking at files using file explorer. I moved it to the right side of screen hoping to keep it there to look at other desk top items. In previous versions of window you could move the file explorer to right side and it would stay there and you could open other files. When I moved it to the right side it disappeared off screen and now I can not view anything that uses file explorer. The file explorer icon on the task bar is still present and when you place the mouse over it you can see the opened files but I am unable to expand it to view. I can close the files here and I tried to reopen but it is still out of view. I have tried restarting the system, but I have had no results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

After opening the first instance of file explorer, you could try right clicking the taskbar icon and open a second instance, then use the thumbnails and find which one is your first instance(may take a couple tries) and close it, then right click on the top window frame and close the second instance using the right click menu. Then see if you can open it in the normal place after.

Have you tries accessing File Explorer from the Apps Screen?

From there you could try unpinning from Task Bar then reselect Pin to Task Bar.

You could also try going to Task Manager and close all instances of File Explorer ( Windows Explorer )that may be running.

finally figured it out. After opening file explorer, I place the cursor over the file folder icon to get the file folder preview window to open and right click and hit move. I then held down the left arrow key until the file folder browser moved back into view. Something so simple. Thanks for all the replies.

Thanks for telling us how you solved it. To be totally honest, I've never right clicked a thumbnail, so that move choice is totally new to me. This is what I love about computers, after 33 years I can still learn/be surprised about the "simple" stuff.
