Desktop Drive Icon Keeps Moving

I am having a strange problem with the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. On the Desktop, I have all my drive icons aligned down the right side of the screen, but whenever I turn on or restart my computer, the icon for one of my DVD drives always moves back over to the left side. And even after I move it back to the right side, it will shift left again upon the next reboot. And this is the only icon that ever moves. "Align icons to grid" is checked, but "Auto Arrange Icons" is not.

It's a minor annoyance, I know, but I'd appreciate any solutions.

Hey Ed,

Couple of questions:

1) At any time (after installing Win 8) have you used and removed Stadock's Fences program or any similar "corraling" software ?

2) Is this DVD drive external?

The Fences software, even after uninstalling, leaves icon positioning kind of funky on Win 8. For this reason, I've stopped using all Stardock personalization software. They are not completely compatible yet.

I've found with Win 8 it sometimes "misplaces" USB hardware. When you reboot, it loses it, then finds it again and will place the icon in the default position (on the left).

I have not used Fences or any such program since installing Windows 8. And it was a fresh install, not an upgrade.

2) Is this DVD drive external?

My DVD drive is internal.

I've found with Win 8 it sometimes "misplaces" USB hardware.

I also have en external USB hard drive, but its icon is always on the right side of the screen.
