Windows 8.1 and WMC Extenders

Hello everyone. This is my first post here. I've used sevenforums for a while, but now made the jump to eight.

I am in the process of vetting solutions to my desire to stop "renting" my FiOS STBs (1 HD DVR and 1 HD Box). Renting them is a complete waste of money. So, I stumbled upon a Ceton Card (Amazon.com: Ceton InfiniTV 6 ETH - 6-channel Cable TV Ethernet Tuner for CableCARD: Computers & Accessories). I've figured out the basics, now I am just stuck on how to get live or recorded shows from my PC to my 2 TVs that are not connected to the PC (HTPC). I have not purchased the Ceton yet, but am anxious to do so if I can figure this out.

Since I don't have any Xbox's, does anyone know of any other extenders that can work with Windows 8.1 and WMC for use on a smart TV? The one Ceton makes is not compatible with Windows 8/8.1.

Thanks!

hello and welcome to eight forums ,iam not 100% sure but I would assume you would connect the smart TV's to the computer through wifi ,I have a Samsung smart tv and I installed a Samsung app to my computer, cant remember what as I no longer use it ,but the info was in the book that came with my tv ,and it would connect the 2 ,and I could play video and music on my tv .now the part I will only be able to assume as I don't have your device ,so you record the cable shows and then connect the tv's and computer via wifi ,open the shows somehow..

Thanks for your response! My TVs are Samsung as well. Perhaps I should dig out the manuals and see if they mention that software. Maybe it is Allshare? I wonder if that would work with the device I am interested in getting. I really wish there was a simpler option :)

I don't have the app running anymore but I think it was Allshare, I'm not sure how the device you are looking at works
