WINDOWS TO GO on editions that "Normal" people can purchase --not just on Enterprise as I think this won't be used much by corporate I.T depts (other than a possible easier way of deployment than the current "Dogs Dinner" method of WINPE).


Roving consultants / independents will find a LOT of use for this when working at different sites.

If it wasn't an issue people wouldn't complain about it now would they? It's a lame way to do things. They have been forced into this because of competition. In the not too distant future they are going to lose major market share. Kids growing up with iPods, iPhones and iPads are going to stick with Mac. iPads are becoming huge, I even have one myself. In my opinion if MS doesn't get this right, they are in a lot of trouble.
There's also Android on phones and tablets, there are less and less reasons to buy a PC. What they are doing is unifying the whole experience of phones, tablets and PC,s, and at the same time making Windows run better on lesser machines. They probably couldn't do all this the old way, so they've had to come up with a new way.

Me personally, I think they've done well so far, I'm not worried about any stupid start menu or close button, I like change, its challenging, and anyway its not that much different once you get used to it. I just hope that all the people complaining are happy to see Apple grow richer and richer as they take over the world. Me, I want options, MS gives me that, Apple doesnt, just overpriced boring crippled machines.

If you don't want to use the Start Screen, then don't use Windows 8. NO ONE is forcing anything on you. If you don't want to use metro apps, then configure the Start Screen in such a way that it works like the Start Menu and then some.

Oh, and I don't know if you've ever used an iPad, it's not that easy either, unless you like doing everything Apple's way. Try finding your files, try playing your music and movies. It can be done but it's a lot of hassle.

I suppose my point is that sometimes we just have to do things a little different and that takes a little extra effort. Anyway I'm not going to go into this any further as its too depressing hearing all the negativity. I'll pop in from time to time to see how things are going but that's about it.

OK, maybe force was the wrong word. You're right I don't have to use windows 8, I'm not and I won't. Not in its present incarnation anyway. If you like it thats cool. Some people don't, and I do believe they have the right to complain about it if they wish. Even if some people are tiered of hearing about it. I didn't mean any offense by my comments and still don't. I am sorry if what I said offended anybody, but did you really think your "stop complaining" comment wouldn't get a response.
At some point I'm sure I'll be using Windows 8 on something, likely a tablet, as that is on my wish list. If Microsoft makes changes as some like me are wishing for, I'd likely use it on my next desktop build too. I don't own a cell phone or anything made by Apple. I have a desktop PC that I built from an all in one kit and a hand me down laptop. If I buy something I think long and hard about that purchase as there isn't a lot of extra cash in this household. Frustration isn't at the top of my wish list when buying a new OS for my PC. You all have a nice day now you hear.

Sorry Alpha, It wasn't my intention to upset anybody, you certainly have the right to complain, it's just me. Everywhere I seem to go there's this negativity towards Windows 8. It's bad enough that I deal with Apple Fanboys every day, it just makes it even harder when I see dedicated Windows users dumping on Windows 8 all the time.
Maybe I'm wrong and you're right, maybe Microsoft will listen to everyone and just upgrade Windows 7. Anyway please don't take offence to anything I've said.

No problem, I try not to get to balled up in things on a forum, but it happens sometimes. I guess I egged you on a bit so I'm just as guilty. Its not hate for me, its just frustration. I'm sure I'd sing a different tune if I had a tablet or anything with a touch screen to play with it on. I don't, so to be honest, the verdict is still out for me. Right now there is nothing to compel me to switch from Windows 7 on my desktop or laptop to Windows 8. I hate to use this word again, but it seems to me that at some point, if you buy a Windows PC you will be forced into Windows 8. Eventually that will be the defacto preinstalled OS. If history is to repeat itself that is. My wish is that Microsoft make Windows 8, or add options to it, to make it more desktop friendly. For what its worth I ran the DP and the CP and will give the next release a try. I haven't given up on it just yet.

I know what you mean about getting frustrated, I got that bad I bought the iPad3, I just needed a tablet with touch. I just wish Windows 8 tablets were here already. Touch is definitely the future and MS knows it, I don't think they really had a choice but to go down the path they've taken.
I hope they can keep most people happy but it looks like they might be walking on a tightrope for a while, in the meantime they've still got Windows 7, I think that's going to be around for a long time anyway.
So seeing this is the official wish list, I wish Microsoft all the best and hope they can keep everybody happy.
