Windows `frozen`in upgrade screen

Hey.

My problem started like this:
1. Windows did boot, but on the desktop, there where no shortcuts and taskbar and even the right side of taskbar (clock) didn`t show anything either. Windows button was inaccessible.
2. I somehow managed to make at least the shortcuts on the desktop available again. PRoblem was, i couldn`t access File Manager (Windows button still inaccessible), so i couldn`t even copy my important files on my memory stick as security.
3. Via a certain key combination (was it ALT+F4... i don`t remember, sry..) i managed to get the option `install updates and then reboot`, which i chose. The computer tried to install update 9 of 19... for like 5 hours, which told me, that he`s frozen or something like that.
4. Now, when i boot Windows i get directly in the update screen (still frozen at 9 of 19), without an option to choose anything, to access bios in before or anything else. Basically i can do NOTHING.

Q: Has any of you guys experience with this or some idea? Basically i want at least to secure my important data on a memory stick before i format the drive and reinstall Windows. Is there a possibility?

If you could only make a bootable Linux live on a USB stick ( I always keep one of those) and boot from it, it would enable you to transfer those files. That's what I would do first.
