Hello, please help me with corrupt system file?

I've looked through the forums and found different answer but none so far has worked.

I ran the SFC /Scannow many times and got this message


"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log."

I restarted after each time too. I tried to run the dism or Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in command prompt in admin but this is what I got.....
This was on 40% from 12am and its now 7am......still only on 40%. Is this normal?

Depending on how fast your PC is. DISM can take a long time to run and hangs at certain point but 7 hours at the same spot is way to long. What I suspect is your HD might be corrupted or having some bad spots. Try to run: chkdsk /r C: from the admin command prompt. The PC will reboot and run it offline. This might take hours to complete and sometimes it will hang at one spot for a long time, so you just have to be patient...

After running chkdsk. Try DISM again.

Am sorry for replying soo late but I had alot of work piling up but I dont know how to post the file......
I tried copy and paste but that didnt work...
Now I think th DISM is still running because when ever I try to run the SFC instead this pops up

If you restart your computer the current process will stop.

Did you do as topgundcp suggested post #2? Should run a chkdsk /r, again it will take a long time and seem to stall at points.

You get this message when windows is doing an update or the pc has to be re started to install the update.
Re boot the pc and start sfc again.

Thank you soo much everybody! Its working again, I ran the chkdsk and it fix the problem. I was able to run "refresh" windows and its working fine...now theres just this fear of installing programs now

Great. Just to make sure that your disk is in good health. Download: CrystalDiskInfo.V6.2.0 and run it. If there is no warning then nothing to worry about.
