Continuous Beeping and Laggy Mouse

Hello people of eightforums, I'm having a little bit of a problem with my computer atm and I'm hoping you guys can help. Every once in a while my computer will start beeping repeatedly from the speakers but only when the mouse is moved. If the mouse is still there is no beeping. Also the cursor on screen moves in a choppy motion and it won't let you click on anything. I can still navigate via keyboard, but not mouse.

I checked the event viewer and the only thing out of place is the igfx display driver failing and rebooting successfully. I have the most up to date drivers and this has only started happening recently. Anybody encounter this before?

When it beeps, how many beeps do you get and are the long or short

I suggest you perform hardware tests on your computer.

Beeps from the speaker or beeps from the PC tower? If it's beeps from the PC speaker my guess is its the new hardware detected beep and the mouse is cutting in and out. To confirm open control panel and go to Sound, Then click the Sounds tab. Now you can click test for Device Disconnect and Device Connect, and see if that's what your hearing. If its a beep coming from the motherboard that's a BIOS error code. It will be a pattern of long and short beeps. Once you know what the pattern is and what BIOS you have you can look it up.

The beeps are relatively short and is definitely coming through the speakers. It's a different sound than the hardware connect/disconnect sound. It's basically a pure sine tone for maybe half a second. If you move the mouse cursor it beeps repeatedly, and if you click it will beep with each click. I should mention I tried all ports with 3 different mice. Thanks for the help guys.

The only program that's been consistently open is Google Chrome. Not a specific page or anything, and I've tried ending Chrome via task manager just using keyboard input, but ending the process doesn't stop the beeping. I've also tried ending pretty much every other program I could think of besides system processes.

Are you running any keyboard remapping programs, or something similar? Corded USB mouse? Corded USB keyboard?

Using a usb keyboard and mouse. There's software for controlling the dpi on the mouse, but I tried ending the process and it still happened.

Yeah, I never encountered anything like it either. If it keeps happening I'll have to go ahead and reinstall. Thanks for the troubleshooting help though. Much appreciated.

If you go back into the Sound settings, and click test on each one, you might get lucky and identify the action that is producing that sound. If it doesn't match any of those my guess is its a hardware issue. Video or sound driver maybe. Just a guess on my part though. If you do decide to reinstall, create a few restore points while your at it. Before and after installing drivers. Then if it happens again you can fix it with system restore and try to sort out what's causing it. Me, I don't mind doing clean installs, I can almost do it with my eyes closed. Sometimes its quicker than trying to figure out what went wrong. Do you have recovery media or install media? If you want to clean install without all the OEM bloat you can download Windows 8.1 install media here, http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-windows-8-1-iso-download-create.html Option 1 will get you Windows 8.1 install media that will work with a Windows 8.0 key or a Windows 8.1 key or an embedded OEM 8.x key. I've long since abandoned the OEM 8.0 install on my laptop for a nice clean 8.1 install.

Will do. And usually I don't mind doing clean installs, but on this particular machine I have some Sample Libraries I use for music production and a clean install requires me to re-install all of the libraries or I get authentication errors. They have some pretty in depth protection on these things. It takes a good few days to get it all installed again, so I'm gonna probably do some trouble shooting in terms of not running specific programs and trying to rule out causes.

Could a PSU issue cause this? I ask mainly because of the igfx fault in OP.

I have the exact same issue.
Running windows 7 though.

I'm thinking it's a USB issue and that my G19 keyboard may be part of the problem.
Running when I get the issues.
G19 keyboard.
Track IR
Saitek x52 and rudders
Steelseries mouse.
I have a very good PSU.
I7 with 16gb ram
Windows 7
Asrock Extreme M motherboard.

I have had issues with USB conflicts and devices turning on and off.
I have disabled USB3 mode re conflicts between USB2 and USB3.

All bios drivers are the latest.

Programs running at time.
Elite dangerous
Voice attack <- could also be the issue
Track ir

If I find a solution, I'll let you know.

OK.. I installed this driver
ASMedia_xHCI_Host_Controller_Driver_v1.16.12.0

there is apparently a 1.16.16.0 driver but all I got where spam sites so I tried this.

Not only have I not had the issue since yesterday, I now have no USB3 issues anymore.

Just search for that driver and give it a go. Hope this helps. Please let me know.
If my issue comes back, I'll post.

Next thing to try from what I have read and heard from a friend Brimlad.
Try a dif usb pot with mouse.. Will try connected to my G19..

The other issue i believe is sound cards.. But I'm using a WOW wireless usb earphone set...
I'll go the usb change and will advise

2 days with no issues so I believe it may be USB2 and USB3 compatibility issues.
The above fix did fix all my other issues where my devices would turn off and on.
So only using USB2 ports ATM. Will try re-introducing my USB3 hub soon but connected to a USB2 port.

I'm hoping kyle will post if he is using similar equipment and devices as I am. Would help me and other uses that may come across this post.
