Vista/Win7 Aero on Win 8.1 Query

Planning on a new Win 8.1 laptop quite soon.

I quite like Aero interface, but I've heard it was deprecated on Windows 8.1 initially. Then there was an update that added it, correct?

When was this update released and what is the KB number?

No Aero on 8.1, not even on 10, at least not officially, if there was, I would have already installed it.

That feature is called "Aero Peek" because that is the name it had in Windows 7. It has nothing to do with the full Aero interface, portions of which are present in Windows 8.

There is third party software that will enable Aero Glass in Windows 8 but it is essentially a hack. It could break under a variety of circumstances with unpredictable results. Not recommended for use on a computer used for important purposes.

Aero may be supported in Windows 10.
