You'll have to contact Lenovo about getting copies of the restore media. They may charge you some nominal fee for shipping and handling. Unless your friend has the exact same make and model though, I wouldn't expect that to work.

Can you be more specific about what you did with Diskpart?

If you just deleted the OS partition, you may be able to recreate it and then use OEM or maybe Windows Recovery Options.

If you used the Diskpart Clean command, you can recover such a drive.

A drive that has only been cleaned with Diskpart, can be recovered.

The way I do it is to first set the drive to it correct configuration, and this is vital. I do this with Diskpart and the Convert command to set it to GPT if you had been using the UEFI configuration. After that, you can boot to something like Partition Wizard bootable and recover the partitions. When you select which partitions to recover, make sure you put check marks in the ones found.

After you recover the partitions, you may still need to set the partitions to the correct Type ID, but that is not hard.

If you were running Windows 8 in the Legacy configuration, you do not need to use Diskpart since Partition Wizard will assume that configuration and recover the partitions in that configuration.

If you have a Secure Boot system, you will have to set it to boot to Legacy Media to be able to boot and run the Partition Wizard media.

If you decide to try this, please do not use steps from another source without confirming here first.

Maybe. Much depends on how the drive was used after it was cleaned. If cleaned, immediately physically removed and put on a shelf, then recovery may be possible. But if you started using the drive after cleaning, it is not likely most, if any of the critical data in the partition/drive is still recoverable.

There's a darn good reason these recovery partitions are put there by the makers - especially notebook makers. I see no reason to remove them, unless you have a full Windows installation and drivers disks for that notebook on hand, BEFORE dinking with partitions.
