Hi

Have spent some time looking online but can not seem to find an answer to this one. I'm sure it is probably something I have done, but I have no idea how to undo it.

My start menu in 8.1 seems to be stuck and I can only view a view applications. They then disappear off screen and I can not wok out how to get down to them. Please see pictures attached. When I scroll down, I can open apps that are off screen, but the screen will not move down so that I can see what is highlighted? Almost as if the screen is stuck on a specific focus point.

Any ideas how to fix this?

ps: I have tried zooming out as you can see from the second picture, but it still only shows the first few. No way of moving the screen down so I can see the rest/programmes.

Hello Bladze, and welcome to Eight Forums.

When you move your pointer to the bottom edge of your Start screen, you should see a scroll bar appear at the bottom. You should then be able to use that scroll bar to scroll left and right on the Start screen to see everything.

You could also use the left and right arrow keys to scroll.

When it's stuck, see if you may be able to use the up and down arrows, or tab key move about with.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for your response. It used to work correctly in the way you have described. However, about a month ago, inexplicably, it stopped performing as such.

eg. When the mouse is at the bottom/side of the screen, no scroll bars appear.

What is even stranger, is that when I use the arrow key to move down. the screen stays in the same place, even thought I can select to open apps that are not in view.

eg. Form the picture above, the app in the bottom left is a "reading list" app. If I click start, and press down twice, this app is selected and can be opened by pressing enter. However, if I press down 3 times, It will open internet explorer. But the screen will not scroll down. So I can not tell what app it will be opening. I only know it is internet explorer from having pressed down and pressing enter.

Any additional thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Ali

You could try doing a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before your noticed this happening to see if it may be able to undo and fix it for you.

I'm hoping to avoid that if possible, but it may be my only option...just seem to be a strange fault?
