Thanks caperjack. I knew about win10 and am anxiously waiting for it's release next year. I think the 8.5 has something to do for developers or something but thanks for your reply.

Thank you,

Dave

No, it's probably just some unofficial name someone came up with. Maybe you're confusing that with how Microsoft skipped Windows 9 in part because of legacy apps that would test for "Windows 9" for the Win9x versions, which would make these old apps think they were running on Win95/98/98SE.

@Dave - I am seeing hits for Windows Phone 8.5 but cannot find anything on Windows 8.5. Got a link to this download so we can verify it is not something malicious.

I wish they would release a 8.5 for desktop. I'm not asking for a return of the Start Menu, but 8.1 U1 seems like a half ass job with things cluttered everywhere when they did the patch job on 8.0. Won't they even have the decency to polish up 8.1 U1 like they did for Vista after Windows 7 was released?!

I'm not a disgruntled "Vista" licensed owner asking for "Win 7" features. All I'm asking is that they polish up whatever mess they came up with for 8.1 U1... And I wouldn't touch Win 10 with a 10-foot pole (pun intended)!

1996? Nah, it's way too modern still. When was windows 3.11 released b/c Office for Win 10 sure has that W3.11 theme feel to it...
