ActiveX crashing in win8 but not win7

Hi All,

We have some Security cameras that use IE and ActiveX. Up until a week or so back they were working just fine with this win8.0, but now IE throws an error and closes with an ilhtrapp.dll error.

I can still access the cameras OK on our old win7 laptop.

Is this the msoft blocking old ActiveX as they have suggested they would be doing? If so that sucks.

Is there any way around this or are we stuck with using the old win7 laptop?

Thanks

If you are running from Metro/Start, TragicX will kill. Have you tried accessing the cameras with Firefox or Google Chrome from the Desktop mode.

If you are using the Metro/Start screen. That level is way too dependent on Java & TragicX, that it is not funny.

Umm, thanks, I think. ActiveX is an IE thing only.

AND it was all working around a week to ten days back from both Metro and Desktop. I suspect it was something to do with the recent updates.

After 13 updates this morning, now the win7 is not working either.

Actually not. Microsoft uses it for the Metro/Start screen app's now. It is so deeply embedded into Windows 8.x.x, it is not funny. Plugin and ActiveX support in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 (Windows) Flash is deeply affected by how Microsoft decided to embed TragicX into the OS.

Like I stated before. Try using Desktop mode and either Firefox or Chrome to see if the same behavior is there. If so, then contact the manufacturer of the cameras about a possible plug in problem.
