I have a new HP/Compaq laptop notebook 2000....
I noticed from my Norton Notifications that my PC's CPU usage is running very high, up to 98%... I've tried almost everything to fix this problem. I started by purchasing more RAM, from 4GB to 8GB, and then bought myself a network 1TB hard-drive. Obviously none of these helped.
I've turned off programs that take up space, I've even turned off smaller programs like Windows Media Player. I went in to MSCONFIG, disabled my start-up items I'm not using, I've disabled Updates, and disabled Windows defender. Many other things also...
I posted this topic on my Facebook, and it looks as though, a lot of my friends with a Windows 8 PC are having the same problems. So, I thought it to be a regular issue, possibly something that hasn't been fixed yet by Windows 8.
I've been told to re-install, Windows 7 Ultimate, but I don't want to lose all of the programs and info I've added in Windows 8. Rather than going back... I'd like to keep moving forward. lol.. Thanks everyone for listening... I hope you can help.
