Hi. So when I play Battlefield 3 on my PC and then I play TV shows on a TV through HDMI Battlefield 3 starts to get a little choppy like it skippinf a few frames. I play Battlefield on low settings at 1280 x 720 resolution on my laptop and then I play my TV show through HDMI on to my TV the show is 1920 x 1080 resolution. WHen I stop playing the show my game is perfect. I was just wondering if theres a way to fix this or its just my graphics card cant run both at the same time perfectly. I also tried runninf VLC though Intel Grqphics and it didnt change

Hey mate,

It is your graphics card. It takes a beefier card to do intensive graphics. Sometimes (more rarely now-a-days) optimizing your computer can help, so long as you use built in windows features to do it. See this: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/37511-optimize-performance-windows-8-a.html

Personally, I am surprised that VLC isn't choppy in this situation.

*EDIT* I hate to say it, but QUITE OFTEN hefty antivirus programs can dramatically slow a computer. Try it without AVG, and if nothing is different, ignore this suggestion (that is, to use a smaller antivirus program). Which Antivirus program is smallest is not apparent to me, though the built in Defender is quiet efficient

Thanks for the rep. I also wanted to add that usually there is an option in games to check Vsync (Vertical Sync). Checking it matches the GPU to the monitor, slowing framerate but keeping it with the monitor. It has worked perfectly for me in times past.

See more info here about it:

Well I noticed I was on Auto so it was kinda between medium and low. I turned on Vertical Sync, and turned graphics to low and made the bf3 process on high. There is no frame skipping at all and both VLC and BF3 are perfect. Thanks a lot man.

Changing the process priority can create instability at times, if that is what you're doing. Just be aware of this if the game crashes. Try raising it a level or two instead of any higher. Other than that, it looks like you have the right of it :thumb:
If you've a mind, some tinkering with the settings between medium and low can create a better looking game that is also stable.

Congrats by the way!
