Hi, I'm noticingthat Windows 8.1 and Onenote 2013 is having a hotkey clash. Windows usesWindows + S key to pull up a sidbar search. Onenote uses the same hotkey to start ascreen capture.

I want the hotkey togo to Onenote. How can I do this?

Are you trying to use Office from the Metro/Start screen, or from Desktop? Screen capture has not changed. It is still Fn Prtsc.

From desktop, I use Windows 8.1 just like earlier versions of Windows.
So again, is there an issue with using Fn and "Prtsc" when taking a snapshot of the desktop or not?

I believe we are talking about two different things.

Onenote 2013 has the ability to do a partial screen clipping, as opposed to the full screen capture you're talking about.

The hotkey is Windows + S, which conflicts with the sidebar search in Windows 8.1 which uses the same hotkey.

This is a list of Hotkeys for Onenote 2013. https://support.office.com/en-US/Ar...ca0-9a6e-dfe7f3452ff8?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US I see nothing in there about using the Windows key & S. You are incorrect on the information it appears.

Here's a screenshotshowing the Onenote screen clipping utility. Please note the screen clipping keyboard shortcut on the left side.

Here's another article that talks specifically about the issue I've brought up, noting the same keyboard shortcut I mentioned.: OneNote: Screen Clippings (Windows + S) Gone in - Microsoft Community

I should also mention that I've used Onenote for three or four years now. I've used Windows + S to screen clip thousands of times. The problem only recently started after upgrading to Windows 8.1.

If you took the time to investigate further. You would have found out that it is because it conflicted with the Windows Key shortcuts that were implemented in Windows 8.x.x. You have two teams that failed to talk to the other, of what they were coding into their software.

So in turn, the Office group had to remove that shortcut, that you keep insisting is in there, even though it was pulled after Microsoft realized they had a mess on their hands. Now on the good news, that shortcut will work with XP, Vista, 7.

The Onenote shortcut is still there. Sometimes when I boot up the computer it works with onenote, other times it pulls up the Windows search. I'm not sure what causes the change of assignment.
