Solved Why doesn't OneDrive icon show in the notification area?

Hi,

I'm using OneDrive and recently bought a new computer Samsung ATIV 9 and my OneDrive files shows in the document section but the icon is nowhere to be found in the notification area. I can't see whether OneDrive updates my files and so on and that's a problem.

Anyone now a solution to this problem? I've tried to download the desktop version through this site: https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/download/

This is the icon I'm looking for: http://winblog.blob.core.windows.net/win/sites/2/2013/10/2_5F00_6D769D0D.jpg

Thanks in advance!

As it is now I have to download every single file when I need it. It seems like my SkyDrive hasn't synced the files properly onto my new computer. Seems weird. I can retrieve the files but first I have to wat 15-20 seconds till they're downloaded.

Hello Herr, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Do you have all of your Windows Updates installed? You may need to check often after each batch of updates is finished installing to make sure there are not more available afterwards.

Hope this helps, :)

Thank you Shawn, I've been reading this forum earlier but never registered myself.

I'm updating at the moment. Found your excellent thread ten minutes ago, hoping that's the problem!

Haha! Now it's there! I updated 35 important updates first and there was no icon to be seen. Then I searched for even more updates and one more update popped upp (a really large one 880 mb) and it seems like that was the one I searched for because it solved my problem. My dear little cloud icon is back!

Edit: I'm a little bit nervous though that the OneDrive desktop version I installed from the Microsoft site will interfer with this one. Do you think that might be a problem? Got this Microsoft Office Upload Center-icon now as well. Didn't have that one on my previous computer...

I've got one more question Brink. At the moment I've lost some functionality when it comes to settings for OneDrive. On my previous computer I could pause uploads if I wanted. I don't have this option now, do you know why this is?

You don't have this if you right click on the icon?

It sounds like you are missing a few Windows Updates yet. Double check to see if you may have any more available to install. :)

Haha, you were right again. Even though I installed all available updates earlier there were some yet to be installed. I've installed them all now and I've got the functionality I searched for. Thank you very much for your help yet again!
