Solved How to exit safe mode with command prompt

Hello,

I have here a pretty stupid problem. I had to enter Windows 8 in safe mode with command prompt to do something. After I did that, I pressed alt+F4 to exit the command prompt, so now I have a complete black screen with a cursor that I can move. I want to exit the safe mode now, to reboot again in normal mode. However, there is nothing to click on, alt+F4 doesn't work, ctrl+alt+del doesn't work, etc. There are some things that do work (for example win+P to connect a second screen, but I don't need that...). When I press the power button, it just goes to sleep. So I just want to get out of this situation. If anyone knows how to bring up command prompt again or shut it down completely, let me know please.

Thanks,
Japeroen

Well guess what. After nearly 1 hour of trying to exit, I tried one more time after I posted this tread and it worked by pressing the power button... I don't understand it... But hey, it's solved, so I got that going for me, which is nice.
Thanks!

Glad to hear that it's working for you.
Make a System Restore point now (just in case it happens again)
Good luck!

An easy way to exit Safe Mode Command Prompt is to give command shutdown -r -t 1 to restart or shutdown -s -t 1 to shut down.

[DEL]I just type exit in the Command Prompt window.[/DEL]

Well, it used to work with Windows 7 but does not with Windows 8, just tried it and ended up with the same blank black screen.
To get out of it, press Ctrl+Alt+Del, select Task Manager then File / Run new task and enter what Kari mentioned, shutdown /f /r /t 0
