Solved mfmp4srcsnk.dll crashing when .MOV file is selected

Hi,

I am running Windows 8.1 Pro fully patched. Whenever I select a MOV (QuickTime Video) file explorer.exe crashes out and restarts, no message box is shown, just the below entry in Event Viewer. This happens both when browsing files and when using an Open File Control in applications.

I have tried: sfc /scannow & Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I uninstalled KB2975719 and all seemed fine for a while, but then the problem returned.

I have to say its been driving me mad and I've spent hours trying to work this out.

I'm no expert, but this file caused the problem - mfmp4srcsnk.dll. I've no idea what it does but after hours searching the web I came across posts which suggested disabling this file so I installed ShellExView and did exactly that.

Immediately the problem is fixed and I can now go back to managing my media/home movie files.

I don't know what impact disabling this file will do, but at least I can open the folders.

Wanted to share this as it's been driving me mad!
