When I return to my computer after it has been asleep for a while I cannot get it to restart. I have to turn the power off and then back on in order to reboot the computer.

Right click on the Taskbar, click Task Manager. With Task Manager click File, click Run new task, type in cmd, click the admin privileges box, click ok

The Command Prompt will have opened. Type in sfc /scannow

press enter

When that has finished, type in chkdsk /f

press enter, type in y, press enter

restart the computer and a disk check will run

I can't run "sfc /scannow" because the system seems to think I'm not the "administrator" ... And "chkdsk /f" doesn't run either. I read something about "SFC" being a Windows 7 answer ... I'm running Windows 8.1

What else can I do? Should I start Windows in the "SAFE MODE"?

If I am supposed to type "admin" at the command prompt - I can tell you that it doesn't work. This machine doesn't believe that I have administrator privileges ... and I don't know how to make it understand that I am the ONLY user ... therefore I am the administrator.

my pc too tells me I do not have permission ----------------------------- rubbish! But I have to ask, why do you need your pc to 'sleep' ? Off or on with monitor sleep is preferable surely???
