Moving/Fixing MBR

Hi there,

After an interesting night, I finally got Windows 8.1 working again. However, I ran across and issue and I would like to get it resolved if possible.

So I had Windows 7 on a HDD and a few months ago, I got an SSD and decided to put 8.1 (8 at the time) on there. All was well and good and I was on my merry way. However, after toying around tonight and running into problems, I realized that the MBR/BCD is on the OLD HDD.

Is there any way that I can move the MBR to the SSD (8.1) so I can wipe my HDD (Windows 7)? Currently I have to boot into the HDD and then I am given the prompt to choose between 8.1 and 7.

Basically you have a dual-boot setup. Have to think about converting to single boot off of SSD.

I'm no expert on dual-boot so hopefully others will respond.

More i think about it this also gets into drive assignments. What is the SSD assignment?

Edit: I believe the right BCDedit commands can do it but it is late and getting tired. I'm no expert on those commands either. Will try to help tomorrow unless someone else does first.

  1. Boot to Windows 8 and Download: EasyBCD Portable
  2. run EasyBCD
