Hi folks
I'm surprised W8 consumer preview hasn't yet turned into a "Lawyers Fest" in the E.U.

Wasn't there some imbecillic / totally bovine reg in the EU that Windows had to give users a Choice of Browser when installing the system.

Now I've NOTHING against IE but installing W8 several times I can say I've never seen a squeak of a prompt for a browser to install.

Maybe this requirement has been (thankfully) dropped. Even so I'm surprised some of the greedier (are there actually any UNGREEDY ones) lawyers haven't chanced there luck with this.

Cheers
jimbo

Microsoft haven't made it easy for third-party developers like Mozilla, Google, Opera and Apple to develop their own Metro versions. So much so, that most of these companies don't anticipate having complete versions of their browsers this year. As far as a 'browser ballot' for Windows 8, I really can't see the other browser vendors, the EU or the DOJ letting MS revert to imposing IE on the world. Interestingly, they may have an additional Anti-trust problem with their included PDF reader...
