Changing entire ownership of entire hard drive any risks etc ?

    I am using method of

    Right click entire hdd

    Change owner
    Find now

    Name - In Folder
Users - Computername(mine is for example Furkan)

Ok this makes me even able to enter inside of System Volume Information folder

Can this cause any problems in future?

For example if i format windows can i still access these harddisks without any problem ?

Are there any details, detailed information, article about ownership of files / folders on windows 8 ?

    ty very much

    Windows 8.1 x64

Also changing windows having driver - boot driver ownership from Trustedinstaller to user would cause any problem ?

When I took ownership of C:\ There were numerous popups saying it was unable to take ownership of various folders & subfolders.

You really don't want to do that.

Everything would probably work. Note that I am only guessing. I have no interest in trying this.

But you would be setting security back to about XP levels. It would of course be convenient to have full and unrestricted access. But by default all software you run will inherit your rights. If that software should turn out to be malicious, then you have a problem. It too will have full and unrestricted access to the system. That includes the ability to delete or modify any system file. Windows Resource Protection normally provides protection from that. But not any more.

    Not recommended.

David is correct. The security access will most likely trickle down the hierarchy to the last sub-folder, especially in hidden system files. You'll have to change permissions for every sub-folder anyway.

If your account is the only one on the system other than guest you can use this:
Take Ownership Shortcut - Windows 7 Help Forums

It recursively changes ownership of an entire tree. For example, Program Files. As noted in the tutorial you should not run it against the root of the system drive.

Right. The idea is not to let the current user account delete system files.
