Win8.1 x64 Store: cannot sign-in, no error message

Hi there,

For some reason I can't figure out the Store does not allow me to sign-in. I'm using a local account btw, not a MS account, but issue exists either way.

I open the Store, open the charm bar and navigate to settings. I click on the "Your account" option and the sign-in button apears on screen. When I click it, nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. I have to close the screen to exit the page.

Furthermore, when I search for an app and click the "install" button for that perticular app, the Store crashes; closing down immediately.

I already ran sfc /scannow but no problems found. I also ran the wsreset.exe but also to no avail.
I tried switching to my MS account, same issue. So am now back on a local account.

It has to do something with the account or a policy that is active on my account I assume ?

Hi there. Thank you for your reply. However I tried that already. It told me that I need a Microsoft account to be able to use the Store, which doesn't solve my problem.

Nevertheless I will switch my local account for a Microsoft account again and re-run the troubleshooter just in case. I'll get back with results.

Again thanks already for looking.

Well, I ran the troubleshooter when logged on with my MS account and it detected 2 issues of importance:

* Windows Store cache may be damaged
* Windows Store configuration may be damaged

It was unable to repair them, ran it multiple times. Does anyone have a suggestion ?

Hello AzzKicker,

In addition, you might see if doing the first two tutorials below to clear the Store cache and re-register the Store may allow you to sign in to it again. :)

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/13133-store-cache-clear-windows-8-a.html

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/35231-store-re-register-windows-8-8-1-a.html

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorial...-different-microsoft-account-windows-8-a.html

WSReset.exe opens up Store, issue remains: install app-button closes Store immediately without notice, sign-in button for Store doesn't do anything
Re-registering does not solve issue :(

Signing-in with different account is no option, need to have Store access from my own account.

Funny thing is: took an image of my partition, loaded it onto a hard drive on another machine and there Store runs just fine

You might restore the image on this machine to see if it will run fine on it as well.

Okay, apparently I got it the other way around, my bad. This is the image I'm on. The original works fine, it's this one (from the image) that doesn't load.

There are several weeks between the image and the original, so restoring the image again is kind of a no-go; too much stuff installed and changed in the meantime.

In another attempt of mine, just minutes ago, I copied the winstore folder from the working original to this partition using a Linux live dvd but now it's even worse: Store doesn't even open. The green spinning logo comes up and closes immediately again...

Restored the Winstore folder again. So am back at initial symptoms: not able to sign-in and clicking install button for any app closes (crashes) the store.

I'm pretty sure we will never be able to solve it as it seems there are thousands of people having such problems and no solution... Most of them do a refresh or clean install again, the others (like me) just leave it at that and ignore the Store and it's bugs.

If you like, you could attempt a repair install without losing anything to hopefully avoid a refresh or clean install.
