Start button stopped working

When I try clicking the start button, it doesn't work. I move my mouse to the right side of the screen, and the bar doesn't come up. Same with moving my mouse to the top left corner of the screen. I checked the properties by right clicking the task bar. The corner navigation options are checked off to show them when I move my mouse to the different corners. When I googled for answers, they were saying to make sure to uninstall third-party applications. I don't have downloaded so I don't know how it would stop working.

First of all, try the keyboard shortcuts:

Start - Windows Key
Charms Bar - Windows Key + C.

Could also be something as simple as a quick reboot.

Both shortcuts worked. I restarted the laptop and the first time I moved the mouse over, the bar came up. I tried again and it doesn't come up. The start button works now too.

Are you placing the mouse pointer in the upper or lower hot corners? to get the Charms bar?

Have you installed a Start Menu program like Classic Shell or Start8?
