Solved Added quick launch, but having problems

Hi, I have searched through the other posts on this site but haven't found my particular issue.

I went through the steps to add quick launch and got it to work just fine -- I can add shortcuts to it, etc.

My problem is that I can't move it all the way to the left. I unlocked the taskbar and slid it over, but it only goes so far and then stops. I have the "start" button (is that what it's called in W8.1?) in the bottom left corner, and then I added one thing to the task bar. If I close all open programs and slide the QL over to the left, it stops with about 1.5 inches to go. If I open any programs at that point, they all get squished into that little 1.5-inch space. Am I doing something wrong? I can't close everything because then I wouldn't be able to post this. But you can see where the dotted grabber thing stops. I can't get it to go any farther to the left, and you can see where the open programs are getting squished. Screengrab below. Help?

Oh wow, you ROCK! Thank you! I guess I didn't do it enough, but it finally went. Woo hoo! I love W7 and am very frustrated overall by W8.1. I'm sure I'll get used to it -- I've only had it a week or so -- but at the moment, I'm not too pleased. This helps! :)

Believe me, I think I'm going to be a frequent poster. I'm fairly tech savvy, but there are some things I'm just not figuring out. I think one of the issues is the touchpad on the mouse. It's different from my other laptops... there is not a left and right button, but all one bar on the bottom. That has nothing to do with Windows, of course, but it makes it kinda tough to navigate through the various screens/menus. I'm thrilled about the quick launch fix, though. Made my night! :)
