Ok I was using the consumer preview build 8250 for about 2 weeks with two monitors my main one being an actual lcd monitor connected by a DVI connector and the other being my TV connected with HDMI. and I noticed no dimming issues what so ever. recently I have added a second lcd to my computer and removed my TV from the mix I now use my hdmi cable in my ASUS monitor that I was using previously but now I am having issues with the screen "randomly" dimming I say randomly loosely because it does it at certain times Most of the time.. when looking thru the steam store once I scroll down thru a list about a fifth of the way the screen will dim and stay dim till I scroll back up same goes with web pages with videos also I noticed it happening While playing mass effect 3 multiplayer for you guys that have played the game, when I would look towards a enemy and the orange box would highlight the enemy my screen would dim and remain dim until I killed it or looked away... this is really becoming an severe annoyance and if anyone knows a remedy I would greatly appreciate it.. let me know if you need specs.. I have tried several different drivers with my video card and its still same results.. im hoping its just a setting I have over looked.

Hi,

Type services.msc in the start page and press enter. Disable the Sensor Monitoring Service and stop it too. See how it goes.

I had this problem on my Inspiron 1564, a BIOS update fixed it. Another thing that can fix it is locking the brightness of the screen in the BIOS (or turning the sensor OFF there). However I don't know if your BIOS support such things.

Did you update your motherboard bios yet?

Did you run a Windows Update to see if it installs a monitor driver? If the monitor is generic in the device manager, look into visiting the monitor's hardware manufacturer to get a driver to install.

Did you check the monitor properties to be sure that it is running at a resolution and also frequency intended by the manufacturer?

I didn't mention this in the thread I had in the Crashes and... section, but while there was a problem brewing, as well as random freezes, the screen brightness fell, and became better when the problem was resolved.
