Start button not working

Every time i click on the start button nothing happens it doesn't even make that animation and colour change when I hover my mouse over it, so i have to press the start key on my keyboard, anyone know how to fix it?

Do you have any 3rd party Start Menu type program installed?

If so, they often have settings that can disable the Start button on the taskbar.

If not, then run a sfc /scannow command for now to see if it may help if it's a corrupter or modified system file at fault.
