Unable to update details on some MP3s

I recently got a laptop that came with 8.1 installed. After downloading an MP3 today, I wasn't able to update the details for it, yet I cant with everything else that I have. I tried using MP3Tag also, and it doesn't make the updates. All of the folder settings are the same for every file, but for some reason this one MP3 will not allow me to update the information (which is also causing it not to add in iTunes).

I've attached a screen shot to show one that is working next to the one that isn't. In both, the mouse was directly over the Title.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi JR00k and welcome to Eight Forums,
There is a simple fix for it:
First:check that the file is not open in another programme(media player...etc)
Second:You dont have enough permission to edit the file here is what should you do:
Stay there and open security tab then click the name of the current user you are logged in then click the edit button then check all the box then apply, ok.
You're done let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi Midou, thank you for the assistance. Unfortunately, all of the boxes were already checked, with the exception of "Special Permissions" which is greyed out. Screen shot below.

Thanks again for your help with this.

ID3Kill

The info might be corrupted.
I occasionally come across mp3s that I can't edit the metadata of.

What I do is obliterate the info using "ID3Kill".
ID3KILL - Download

I then manually enter the info.

Thanks lehnerus, but still no luck. ID3Kill said that it removed the tag info, but I'm still unable to update anything.

One other thing I found... When I choose "Remove Properties and Personal Information", I get the following....

Hello Jr00k,
Ok go to general tab do you see at the end something like "this file is from another PC and its blocked do you want to unblock it?"
if so press unblock then it should work fine.
_For the error i think you should just restart you PC and it will be fixed.
Hope that helps.

It did have the message about being from another PC, but unblocking it was the first thing I tried. As for restarting the PC, even after I still can't edit the details or remove personal data.

ID3v2.4 Tags?

Windows 7 had an issue with mp3 files that used ID3v2.4 tags.
WMP 12 would retrieve the data from the Internet (if you let it) but you couldn't edit it.
ID3 v2.4 tags not working

I don't know if the same thing occurs in W8 (or what meta data format iTunes expects). :(
