I have a newish Acer laptop running Windows 8.1with all the current updates automatically downloaded.
Whenever I open to use my programmes I get pop up messages telling me by backups will be deleted if I don't sign up. Also someone called PC fix speed that my registry contains 444 errors and I should click on Fix Issues Now. They say they are a Microsoft PartnerGold Application Development. This opportunity has been brought to me by the developers of 'Spyware Terminator' I also get pages head by Techno Hotline.
Please should i get rid of all these things, If so how?

Go to the Control Panel and Programs. Check the list of programs there for any that are suspicious. Sort by date installed, descending to find the recently installed stuff. You definitely got some 'other' software' downloaded to your PC, perhaps during an install of Adobe or Java or something else.

If that is the case, here's a video to help identify tricks that different sites (like download.com) try and use:

Many thanks. Uninstalled those not required from Control Panel. Seems OK now. It's amazing, popups appear everywhere. I don't recall clicking to accept any but will be very careful in future.
