Cannot open Event Viewer anymore

Hi guys,
I don't know what happened but I can no longer open Event Viewer. When I click on the icon to open it, the computer appears to work for a split second but then nothing happens. No window opens or anything.

Any advice?

In the elevated command prompt run sfc /scannow

The first time I ran it i got some results but when I ran again to copy the results to send you I am getting:

"Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

That's fine, if you cannot still get to event viewer, do a Repair Install:

Thanks. Is this basically the same thing as reinstalling Windows 8, ie. a fresh install?

It will just attempt to repair or install some system files, it is not the same as a fresh install. You do not lose programs or files.
