Ext4 on a Win8 external drive?

I read that with "Paragon ExtFS for Windows" I could use Ext 2/3/4 in my Windows 8 environment.

Would there be any speed benefit with this?

I read in many places that Ext4 is a superior file system, but would it be good in this case?

You can get read/write access to your Linux partitions from within windows using that program.

No idea what you mean by a speed boost.

You can't run windows on those filesystems.

I have 2 virtual machines (UBUNBU, Linux Mint) and also have Linux Mint installed as a stand alone machine, I am using this freeware to access the ext partitions and the speed is blazing fast: Ext2Fsd Project » Downloads

Paragon ExtFS was designed for interoperability with a Linux OS, not for routine use with Windows. While Ext4 may be a superior file system when used with a Linux OS (I am not saying one way or another) I would expect it to be less than ideal for Windows. It can read and write an Ext4 partition, but can it create one? The website makes no such claim.

So no point to bother with it?

Short answer: No

Why would you want to access Linux partitions? - they are purely for that OS (Boot, Root and Swap) Home partition should be Ntfs, should you have Windows on your LAN as well...
