    you don't have to be running programs in compatibility mode to have the file , file is associated with the service mentioned ,I have the file on my win7 iam using right now ,and iam not running programs in compatibility mode, windows checks all program we try to install for compatibility ,that why you get a message when you try running /installing say a 64bit program on 32bit os and such or install IE9 on win Vista ,ect ect

    It was two questions I asked, one for the dll and the other for programs in compatibility mod. Trying to determine if one is conflicting with the other.

    Okay, the rundll32.exe_aepdu.dll error has stopped! But now there is a new problem.
    Now instead of that error this is the new error: "Program Compatibility Data Updater stopped working". It has happened 3 times since my last post, and sometimes on shutdown I get an error message which I forgot to mention in my original post. The error message has changed, but it still goes by to fast to read. It only happens during shutdown. On the blue "Shutting Down" screen, an error message will appear right before it shuts off with one button to push "OK". I usually can't read it since it doesn't happen every time and it goes by fast.

    Here is the technical details. Maybe this was caused by disabling the Application Experience.

    Open the Task Scheduler
    Select Task Scheduler Library in the left pane
    Select Microsoft,
    Application Experience
    Select each of the two task and select disable in the right hand pane for each one..

    What happens now?

    There is 3 things to disable, not 2.

    1) AitAgent - Under "Last Run Result" Says "The Operation Completed Successfully 0x0". I left it enabled.

    2) Program Data Updater - Under "Last Run Result" Says "The Extended Attributes are Inconsistent 0x800700FF". I disabled it.

    3) StartupAppTask - Under "Last Run Result" Says "The Operation Completed Successfully 0x0". I left it enabled.

    I will wait a few days and report back whether I am still getting the same error. If you think I should disable "AitAgent" and "StartupAppTask" also, tell me. I left them enabled because it said they last ran fine.

    It appears the issue has been solved. Thanks guys!
    Its been a few days, and the error has not happened since 7/2/14. Usually it happens every day or every other day, it has been 5 days so i'll assume its fixed.

    Similar issue - fourth line in Task Scheduler

    Nuccii - Have same issue on very new install of Win 8 Pro 64-bit that updated itself to Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit on a Dell Optiplex 7010 with 8GB RAM.

    In Task Scheduler, for ProgramDataUpdater shows only (0C0000005) as Last Run Result, and I have numerous Error messages about this.

    Instead of just Disabling, is there a fix to the underlying problem?

    Or is this happening because I favored privacy over sharing info with MS when I first configured Win 8 and then Win 8.1?

    Also, FYI, in my Task Scheduler sub-window. there are FOUR lines. The fourth (not listed above) is Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser, but it seems to run OK.
