Run programs on logon

Hi, guys

If I add a program in the Startup folder or in the Run registry key it starts when I log in, but after a 5-6 second delay.

Doe anybody know how to control or even remove that delay? Ideally for specific programs, but a global setting for all programs is also acceptable.

Thanks
Ivo

You can do it with PowerShell in 7 , so I guess in 8 too

Start-Sleep –s 5
& 'C:\Program Files\XYZ\XYZ.exe'

then add the script in Policy Editor - User Configuration - Windows Settings - Scripts (logon/Logoff) - Logon

Hi,

I noticed a similar lag in execution after I'd put the desktop shortcut in the startup group so it would run automatically instead of the Metro startscreen.

It worked alright but was so slow that you'd be faster of doing it "manually"...

Cheers, ;)

I am asking about the opposite. Probably my original post wasn't clear.
By default there is a delay when starting Startup programs. This is probably intentional to speed up the login time.
I want to remove the delay for specific programs.

Not likely. The best I have heard of this was an alternate BIOS boot on certain mobos that would run, say, a browser or music while windows was booting in the background. There is just too much processes that need to start up (besides the stuff you can see in the notification area) before ANY program can run. For instance, you need to have network processes enabled and running before you could possibly use a browser. You need the desktop up before Photoshop could be started. You can whittle these down some by selectively turning off certain processes but you will not save much time (a second or two at the most).
