Taskbar crashing?

Hey all,

Recently, my taskbar started doing a strange crashing/restarting thing. It disappears for a second, leaving behind the drop shadow, then restarts and works fine. Looks like this:

See the shadow line there?

I was able to duplicate it when I realized it would happen each time I opened an old program, but also happens at seemingly random times. Sometimes it takes just a second to reboot, other times it stays this way for a minute before returning.

Anyone else seen this before?

Do you have AutoHide the Taskbar enabled?

I do, but this is a different, actual problem -- not the taskbar just hiding. Sorry, should have explained it better.

When it disappears, as in, goes away and can't be accessed, it leaves behind that shadow. Then, as I mentioned, sometimes goes away for a few seconds, other times around a minute. Can't access the start button, or any of the tabs on the taskbar until it restarts.

Does your :winkey: work? Or :winkey: +1, 2 etc for the pinned taskbar icons...

Looks like they do, yeah. (Had to start that program that I know causes the issue to figure that out. Assuming it still works during the other random times it freezes too.)

Any ideas what's causing it? How to fix it? I suppose I'm OK with hitting the Windows key each time, but of course, I'd rather the issue just go away.
