Solved Screen size randomly changes when tapped...

I have spoken with windows support... I used to have an option on my taskbar to adjust the screen size. They have no idea what to do. I can go through my computer and set the screen size to 100 % but if I am tapping while on the net it changes dramatically and I don't know how to control the overall size. Would greatly appreciate any insight... it seems my upgrade to 8.1 has created more problems than it has solved. Thanks for the advice, Cheers

screen changes

but if I am tapping while on the net it changes dramatically
just curious ,what does tapping on the net mean

My font size changes randomly when I tap my lap top when I try to access or change screens. When I had Windows 8 I had an icon where I could change the font size... 100 % ... 125%... 80% - whatever I wanted. Now I can't find that option other than going into the control panel and that does not seem to have any effect on how the internet display comes up. I see an option for 100% or 125%. I am not in need of magnified screens - just don't know why my screen changes in a random manner when I am not accessing anything other than usual net browsing. I don't know why the upgrade to 8.1 would affect this option but it seems that since I have upgraded to 8.1 I have lost this option. The fact that my screen gets randomly smaller is annoying. I am not accessing anything unusual and simply using the lap top as I always have - scrolling and going through screens as usual - but the screen size changes and I have no idea why. If I knew how I was accessing these control issues I could avoid them - but knowing how to control them would be very beneficial. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time, Cheers

Two fingers...

My computer is set up so that scrolling up and down takes two fingers. It is annoying that this random change occurs out of nowhere. Do you know how I can get the icon on my taskbar that allows me to change the screen size? Thanks for all your help, Cheers

Misunderstanding re touch screen...

I do not have a touch screen computer... I was referring to tapping the touchpad as I navigate through the web or documents. I have a Toshiba L950 D that was bought new 14 months ago. The windows support team I spoke with seemed rather clueless. It seems like a simple question... how do I get the icon on my taskbar that allows me to change the size of my screen... with windows 8 it was on the taskbar and when any changes occurred I could compensate... now that I have upgraded it seems no one knows how to get that icon back. Grateful for any help you can provide, Thanks

Is it the screen size changing or the contents of a window? There is a feature where holding the Ctrl key and pressing the + or - key or rolling the mouse wheel will increase or decrease the contents of a window. The same may apply to those Notebooks that have the vertical and horizontal 'scroll' feature built into the touchpad.

You are brilliant...

I spent hours on the phone with techs at Microsoft and no one seemed to know about this simple option. Thanks very much, I can now see my screen again as it is not miniscule in size. Thanks again, Cheers

On my laptop, which uses gestures on the touch pad, if I touch the pad with two fingers and then move them apart it will zoom the screen. If I do a pinch it goes the other way. It's the same as holding the ctrl key down and pressing the up or down arrow. If your not carful when your two finger scrolling you could accidentally change your magnification.
