I've noticed that there are a lot of folders in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Packages and their names sound like Metro apps. The folder contain subfolder for Metro apps I no longer use and even have uninstalled them.

The question is: why weren't they deleted next to applications uninstalls and is it safe to delete them manually?

You could make a system image first & then delete them & see what happens. :)

Someone else may have a better suggestion.

A good one! :p The reason I'm asking is to avoid that... :)

They do no harm but I'm a maniac of removing anything that is useless.

As David Bailey has said, if they are the installation Apps and you no longer need them, by all means delete them to save space.
