Win 8.1 Missing files

Win 8.1 reports missing files and various things wont work like shock player (comes with 8.1). No, it wont download sep; says I already have it. Also adobe media files but again, pc says I have it. I got 8.1 from Microsoft via an email offering it to me, with activation code, but needless to say, cant find it now.

Ideas? The repair centre in pc says I need to put the disk in to upload replacement files to the pc - there is no disc.

No, it was received in an email from MS. A link and an activation code. I did not have to go through the store.

It seems I have the following alternatives:

Buy 8.1
Revert to Win 8 (how?)
KILL! And reinstall which I don't want to do I have such a lot of stuff. Backups have never worked in the past nor system restores


I found product ID for 8.1 - 5 numbers x 3 and an alphanumeric five block

I have just bought Win 8.1 pro recovery dvds from a reputable dealer, hopefully the result will be soon!!
