For what exactly? I've been using the same password for a lot of stuff since forever? Is this a company provided PC?

Hi Livio, welcome to the Eight Forums.

By default Windows 8.1 does allow reuse of old passwords. The screenshot below shows how to change password history settings in Local Security Policy editor. To open Local Security Policy editor type secpol.msc in Run dialog (WIN + R):

2014-06-23_12h21_07.png

Windows 8.1 can be set to remember maximum 24 last passwords for each user. You can also set the minimum password age (time in days user cannot change password after the last change) and maximum password age (time in days since last password change when user must change the password).

Notice that if your computer belongs to a domain, only domain administrator can change the policy.

warning   Warning
Password history settings should only be changed as told above in Windows 8 / 8.1 computers using exclusively local accounts instead of Microsoft Accounts. To change or reset a Microsoft Account password, see this tutorial: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/12206-microsoft-account-password-change-reset-windows-8-a.html

I do it too. I'm running Pro on all my PC's and sometimes forget that Core doesn't have all the same features. The day to day stuff is usually fine, its stuff like GPedit that will get you.
