Seriously this is drastically different than the experience on 7forums. Everyone went from loving windows to hating windows and it feels like a bitchfest around here. I get it some people can't handle change or don't want to accept it whatever. I still think it's a bit much and I feel a lot less like reading the forum when it is filled with negativity and whining about new features. I expect this kind of sentiment towards windows from like the apple community or something...

Well there's bound to be a lot of criticism as this is about a system that is still in the early days of testing. But, scanning the forums, I think you'll find a lot of positive comments about Windows 8 too.
I like it to a point but wish that Microsoft would remember that not all people are into touch screens or the tablet experience on their desktops and perhaps an On/Off switch for Metro plus a Start Orb/Menu on the desktop app would have been a good idea. But that's just me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
My really big beef with the system is the inflexible Metro Device Page which makes manual driver installation a real pain in the proverbial...!
But as it's early stages things will change I'm pretty sure.

Using non-RAID on purpose as I find it too fussy and temperamental.
I have to admit, I am a Windows 7 guy. When I first saw the UI for Windows 8 I was not very happy.....but after about 2 hours looking through the new features I see some good stuff.

I am defiantly not as excited about Windows 8 as when Windows 7 was in BETA. Maybe because XP was getting VERY old and Windows 7 has worked SO well for me and almost everyone I have built systems for.....I don't want to see a lot of big changes.

The new UI will just generate more "how do I do this" questions from people. So......I have to learn it. (and I like to learn it)

I have built 40-50 systems. I have 3 desktops and just got a new laptop.
I agree. Seriously, this is Eight Forums, not I Hate Eight Forums. There seems to be a small crowd of users here that flock to the hater side, and the rest are enjoying the experience of Windows 8. But then again, people have a tendency to resist change in any shape or form. This is why Windows 8 is getting flack, it's not a small evolution of the Taskbar or Start Menu, this is a WHOLE rethinking of Windows for all form factors of PC, from touch to gesture to a mouse and keyboard.

Products are frequently advertised as "New" - that is precisely because people like new things.

It is odd that some of those who are very keen on win8 - cannot accept that others do not like it as much as they do.

They seem to think there is something wrong with those who do not share their tastes.

That is what is odd.

The idea of a preview/beta/whatever is so people can say what they do and don't like - in the hope the maker is listening.

In reply to the OP :

The response to the early ( sometimes leaked ) builds of Windows 7 was overwhelmingly positive - some of them were obviously unfinished and quite buggy.

In spite of that - there was general excitement and most were looking forward to each new build.

That is because - the vast majority genuinely liked it.

Now there is another new o/s approaching.

The response is mixed to put it mildly.

That is because some like it some don't.

I wouldn't always boil it down to the fact that some people can't accept that others don't like it. It is partly because a whole operating is dismissed because it looks, keyword looks, too "touchy", or "regressing 20 years in design" or "a mobile OS." These criticisms generally have come from people that only used Windows 8 for a few hours or a day or two. When you ACTUALLY use in as a main OS, daily, and use it for a long time (in my case since September with the Developer Preview) the benefits shine through.
