How do I get rid of the crap --

How do I get rid of the crap -- that keeps popping in from the right side of the screen when I'm trying to scroll down while on the internet. Disrupts my scrolling and then I have to get rid of the useless junk before I can clear the screen. Can I eliminate this intrusion without going to a new operating system? I have windows 8.1 with all of the latest updates. Thanks for any help.

Hello Abqhudson,

Please go ahead and post a screenshot showing what you are referring to help better clarify.

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2598-screenshots-files-upload-post-eight-forums.html

Tapping into my [DEL]psychic[/DEL] psycho powers, it sounds like you may be talking about while scrolling on a touchpad, and the charms bar is opening on the right side?

If so, then see if disabling touchpad edge swipes may help.

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/20992-touchpad-edge-swipes-enable-disable-windows-8-a.html

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Thanks for your help. I'm on a desktop computer.

The vertical bar that comes in from the right may be the "Charm Bar"?

I downloaded/ran the program you suggested to remove this. We'll see if that was successful - I'll let you know.

Thanks very much for your prompt help.

This may help also. Right click on the task bar and choose "Navigation" then uncheck "When I point to the upper-right corner, show the charms".

Yes that's fine for disabling the hot corners.. but it's the edge-swipes on your touchpad whilst navigating that irritates some... for that Shawns tutorial works a treat!

Still have the problem after I downloaded and ran Disable BR_TR_corners_charms_hint.reg

In navigation -- show charms is not checked. I don't have a touchpad.

Not even sure how I get this as I don't seem to be able to get it if I try. Seems to happen when I'm trying to scroll.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I was replying to abqhudson who stated they were on a desktop. Nobody said anything about a touchpad.

Yeah, that'll only work if it was for a touchpad.

If you're scrolling using a mouse instead, then check your mouse button settings (if any) to see if one is set to open the charms bar if pressed. My guess is that it would be if you press the scroll wheel.

The upper right-hand corner Charms Bar popup was always getting in the way when I was scrolling in Firefox. Glad that it was easy to turn off. :)

But there's no way to disable swipe-up-from-the-bottom-right-corner-with-the-mouse on a desktop system using an actual mouse and not a trackpad, amirite?

Doesn't appear to be .. I just tested with TrackPoint and swipe brings up the charms .. even though touchpad side-swipe is disabled as well as the reg settings applied - fortuntely I don't have a need to use TrackPoint.

Kill Charms Bar - will disable the top right corner and the bottom right corner in Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.
Does the same without using 3rd party software. :p

"Charms Bar Killer" disables the entire 'Charms' immersive UI including the clock, not just the 'hint'. Only way to access it is :winkey: + C. The only thing you can access when running full tilt is the Start button and app stacker from bottom left of the primary monitor only.

Statements of fact shouldn't end with a bunch of question marks.
Ha ha, funny... it was actually many questions (you may exceed with the number of answers) as to why it could be considered "Junk". (that's full stop at the end of sentence)

Every time I bring it up accidentally, I think of Brundlefly climbing the wall in "The Fly", pulling up his shirt, and remarking on the growth on his torso, "Oh look at this, what's this? I don't know."
