Hello every one.

While using windows 8 Consumer preview, when I start my computer, the battery icon randomly appear in the right down task bar. As I am on a laptop, I need to switch quickly between different power configuration. So I ask why does the icon don't show every time I start my laptop, and how can I fix that ?

thank you.

Hi,

Not sure why this is happening to you. Many manufacturers offer drivers to install which sort of (easy way to explain) supplements Windows with power management.

A good start would be to visit the manufacturer's site of your laptop to see if they have an available Windows 7 (better) or Windows Vista driver to install. If so, install it then reboot. See if things shape up. Even if not, you'll be in a better position than it stands right now.

Other than that, in Windows, there is the ability to hide or show it based on your preference. You can right click on the time in the notification area at the bottom right of the screen. Choose Customize notification icons. Then click on Turn system icons on or off.

Your laptop would likely thank you for updating to latest bios available from the manufacturer too.

Good luck!
