Solved OneDrive Screw Up

Hi,
I’ve made a huge error and I don’t know what to do.

I got the Documents folder to Sync to OneDrive and was just messing with the Pictures folder and I must have changed the location for it. I recall seeing a pop-up screen saying this couldn’t be undone and I still clicked OK by mistake.
Now, if I put a new folder into “Pictures” it will replicate in “Documents” and also “OneDrive”
I’ve looked at the Properties>Location of the Picture folder and it has the destination as “Documents” and the more I mess, the more I dig a bigger hole for myself.

I now have two folders called Pictures... one of these will be the Documents folder. If I change the name of one then the other changes. Can't delete them or anything. Just want to restore these folders to their original names and locations.

Can anyone help please? I’ve spent 8 hours on this now trying to figure it out

Hi PacE, welcome to Windows EightForums! :)

Check for a restore point prior to this occasion.

Hi,
There isn't a restore point :(

I've had the laptop 2 days. Work built it for me and I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 last night and then I went and stuffed everything up this morning.

It's not helped by the fact I'm new to Windows 8 either

I've even tried re-installing the Windows 8.1 upgrade but as it's already installed, it won't do it and I tried to uninstall the upgrade but Add & Remove programs won't do that either :(

Now they're both called Documents :(

The reason why you can't see OneDrive on the left is because I used the registry files from this site to disable it. I thought by doing that I might stand a better chance of fixing the folder issue.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I'm guessing that didn't find anything...

Will try the second link now

OMG... after 12 hours and several very rude words... I think I've fixed it!!!

All I want to do is keep my work in the Documents folder and then for it to upload to OneDrive as I change / add to it. My house got burgled and I lost all my work, hence the reason why IT have brought me a new laptop, but I want to know that if ever anything happens again my work will always be safe.

So I just need to change the location of the Documents folder to OneDrive for it to do this?

I really can't thank you enough Brink... it's been a crap week but you've made the weekend just that little bit better. Thank you!!
