Windows 8.1 scaling issues and not remembering settings

Hi.

First of all let me apologize for repeating the scaling issue. I have searched high and low and tried just about anything i could find, but Windows is still misbehaving.

First let me explain my issues. There are 2 specific ones that annoy me.

Issue 1.
I have an HP Elitebook 8570w laptop that I use for work. At home I use the laptop as it is but at the office I have a docking station with a second display connected to it.

My issues are when i connect it to the docking station.

My PC has a native resolution of 1920x1080 and my second screen is 24" and 1920x1200.
When i insert the laptop in the docking it scales the laptop screen and it becomes blurry while the larger screen is clear.

The settings that so far works best for me is to have "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" turned OFF and set to smaller, but every time i insert it in the docking station I have to go in to these settings and change from smaller to another setting on the slider, click apply and then change back to smaller. This removed the blurryness and scaling seems normal without having to sign out and back in.

This is my settings for the scaling.

The result after booting up in the docking station: (full screen snipp showing one half clear and the other blurry)

Changing this setting once and back fixes it:

My question about this is why does it do this? From what I understand of the settings here is that I have set it to smaller and (after changing the settings once and back) it shows correctly. Why does windows insist on doing the scaling in the first place? And is there anything I can do to make it stop. It is not a huge deal, but it is annoying to have to go do this every time I set it into the docking station.

Now, that was Issue number 1.

Issue 2

This is related to sound settings. Specifically playback settings and also again in connection to the docking station.

I love to listen to music while working, but at the same time I also communicate alot through LYNC or Skype so I have a Logitech USB headset connected to the docking station.

My headset for music uses the onboard sound card and normal 3,5mm jack plug, but when I use the docking station it every time switches both playback and communication device to the Logitech headset.
This means I get no music in my good headset untill i go in and change playback device to the onboard card.
This was never an issue with Windows 7. There i set it one time and it remembered it.

Is there anything I can do to make windows remember my preferences in this matter?

Settings i want windows to remember (Windows 7 did this perfectly)
Here you can see the logitech headset is the communication device and the onbeard card is default playback.

Any help about these issues would be greatly appreciated.
I find windows 8 to be fast, reliable and not to bad looking at all and I am happy with it, but these 2 issues are bugging me every day.

Best Regards

Tore
