I am on W8 and I would like to know your general thoughts about going to 8.1. Is it worth it??????????

The general consensus is yes, it is definitely worth it.
If you're on a laptop, do check first that your manufacturer supports it for your device...

as already suggested make sure that you computer maker has win8.1 drivers
in my opinion win8.1.1[that 8.1 with the latest 8.1 updates] is better, has more options for us, boots right to desktop, taskbar on start screen ,plus X to close apps and minimise option on start apps ,apps minimise to desktop taskbar ,ect ect ect

not sure how completely you would like it, it stops it for me ,I just tested 2 different apps ,with task manger ,and when I X them out ,all cpu usage by the app goes to zero ,good enough for me ,happy computing

While it's true it takes up memory, that memory would simply be sitting idle anyway. If the system needs more memory it will close suspended apps to get it.

I have 8 gigs of RAM in my desktop PC and my Laptop. A couple of Apps suspended in RAM isn't something I worry about. On the plus side if you launch that App again it opens faster and depending on the App, picks up again right where it was. If I close slacker Radio mid song, it picks right back up where it was when I closed it and finished the song when I launch it again.
