8.1 reboots from desktop

Ok, After nuking my computer, due to a fatal user profile issue that could not be recovered from, i reinstalled windows 8.1 from scratch. Everything should be great. However after 1-2 weeks, I've started to experience a new issue that is driving me nuts. The computer is hanging at two points.
(1)The first spot is upon boot, within the desktop. the mouse just spins, and I can't access anything. after 2-4 minutes, the computer reboots on it's own
(2)It occasionally hangs or is slow going through the bios upon boot. It's also hanged at "verifying DMI pool data"

To recap, I cannot access any programs or system functions at this time. I've tried to restore from a point of time, but that action failed.

Does anyone know what the issue is? or how to determine if the issue is hard drive vs. bios (if this makes sense). in terms of setup, I have a SSD drive where the OS is installed, I also have a separate hard drive.
Thanks.

  1. Make sure you update the latest firmware for your SSD.
  2. Temporarily disconnect the other HD.
  3. From the elevated command prompt, run: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  4. Then run: sfc /scannow

I'm using the windows boot disk in order to access the command prompt from c: or x:/sources

This is what I get when I run that command:
"Error 50
DISM does not support Windows PE with the following /Online option"

  1. Make sure you update the latest firmware for your SSD.
  2. Temporarily disconnect the other HD.
  3. From the elevated command prompt, run: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  4. Then run: sfc /scannow

So I ripped this sucker out of my computer, and I tried scanning for errors using another. it consistently fails and dies, I think this SSD is toast.
