    Partitions on Flash drive help

I have a 64GB flash drive I just bought to make a recovery for my laptop. I made the recovery partition just fine but its taking up 32gb when only using 21.5GB of space leaving over 10gb not usable. I am trying to shrink the partition to 24GB but it wont let me. Look at the attached screenshot.

Another question is my primary 1tb drive has a few extra 450MB partitions. What are they for?

Personally I would not partition the 64GB drive. If you are just doing normal backups. Let it use the whole partition. If it is an image backup of a certain partition to move to a different drive. I would use something like EaseUS Todo workstation for partition backup.

You will find that how you are doing it. That you are going to end up running into problems. Especially with using such a small drive for image backups.

I just quick format my 64 GB usb drive to ntfs.
With Macrium all my drives are compressed to around 21 GB in my image.
    Works good.

You should've just bought a 32GB for your recovery disk and keep it safe. Instead of getting a 64GB and splitting it into partition as a recovery disk and at the same time a data disk which I think is not a safe option. IMO

I agree with frozwire; A separate drive for image / partition backup is best. Store it in a safe place, and if you can afford two of them, do it twice and hand the second one over to a trusted friend so it's stored offsite.
